Troubleshooting¶
Solutions for common issues you may encounter when using RU4M.
Login & Authentication¶
Can't sign in¶
Symptoms: Wrong password or email error, unable to access your account.
Solutions:
- Double-check your email address for typos
- Make sure Caps Lock is off when entering your password
- Try resetting your password
- If using social login (LinkedIn/Google/Apple), make sure you're signing in with the same account you registered with
Account locked¶
Symptoms: "Your account is temporarily locked due to too many failed login attempts."
Solutions:
- Check your email for unlock instructions
- Wait a few minutes before trying again
- Use the password reset feature to set a new password
Social login issues¶
Symptoms: LinkedIn, Google, or Apple sign-in fails or is cancelled.
Solutions:
- Ensure you have a stable internet connection
- Make sure you're using the correct social account
- For LinkedIn: Verify your LinkedIn account is active and accessible
- For Google: Try selecting your account again from the account picker
- For Apple: Ensure Face ID/Touch ID is set up correctly
Map & Location¶
Map won't load¶
Symptoms: "Map failed to load" error or blank map screen.
Solutions:
- Check your internet connection (WiFi or mobile data)
- Check your GPS settings — enable Location Services for RU4M
- Close and reopen the app
- Check if your device has a GPS signal (may not work well indoors)
No users visible on the map¶
Symptoms: Map loads but no pins are shown.
Solutions:
- Check if filters are limiting results — clear all filters
- Zoom out to see a wider area
- Use Teleport to check a populated area
- Make sure your internet connection is active
Location not updating¶
Symptoms: Your position on the map doesn't change when you move.
Solutions:
- Check if your location is locked — unlock it in Location Settings
- Make sure Location Services are enabled: Settings > Privacy > Location Services > RU4M
- Choose "Always" or "While Using App" for location access
- Restart the app
Chat & Messaging¶
Messages not sending¶
Solutions:
- Check your internet connection
- Close and reopen the conversation
- Restart the app
Not receiving notifications¶
Solutions:
- Check device notification settings: Settings > Notifications > RU4M > Allow Notifications
- Check in-app notification settings
- Make sure "Do Not Disturb" is off on your device
- Force close and reopen the app
Calendar¶
CalDAV sync not working¶
Solutions:
- Verify the server URL, username, and password are correct
- Check your internet connection
- Remove and re-add the CalDAV account
- See CalDAV Integration for setup instructions
General¶
App is slow or freezing¶
Solutions:
- Close other apps running in the background
- Restart the RU4M app
- Check for app updates in the App Store / Google Play
- Restart your device
App crashes¶
Solutions:
- Update to the latest version of RU4M
- Restart your device
- If the problem persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app
Data loss
Uninstalling the app won't delete your account. Your data is saved on the server and will be available when you sign in again.
