Location & Privacy¶

Control how your location is shared on the RU4M map. You can show or hide your presence, lock your location, and manage GPS settings.

Prerequisites¶

Tap the Settings or gear icon to access your settings.

Find and tap the Location settings section.

Use the Show me on map toggle to control whether other users can see you on the Explore map.

Show me on map — Your profile pin is visible to other users. If enabled, other users will see you on the map.
Hide me on map — Your profile is hidden from the map. If disabled, other users will not see you on the map.

Visibility

When hidden, you won't appear in map searches or the bottom sheet user list. You can still use all other RU4M features.

Toggle the Lock Location option to fix your position on the map.

Locked — Your location is fixed to the current position. Other users will see you at this location even if you move.
Unlocked — Your location updates in real-time based on GPS. Other users will see you at your actual location.

When to lock your location

Lock your location when you want to appear at a specific venue (like a conference center) even when you step away temporarily.

Control whether other users can see the distance between you and them.

Hide when not networking — Turn off map visibility when you're not actively looking to connect
Lock at events — Lock your location to the event venue during conferences
Review regularly — Periodically check your location settings to ensure they match your preferences
